  • Closed loop geothermal heat extraction rig ( low to medium temperature, up to 200 C) with bayonet and helical heat exchangers
  • Temperature bath loop with variable frequency drive from -50 to 200 C
  • Thermal characterization: density, thermal conductivity, specific heat
  • Flow characterization (Newtonian and non-Newtonian)
  • Wear (abrasion and erosion) characterization
  • Data acquisition system and Labview controler
  • Rock-Microwave system 3, 15 and 100 kW
  • Access to McGill Geomechanics facility, such as uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) tests for rocks and soils, fracture toughness, core sample preparation, backfill curing room etc.
  • Access to McGill common facilities, such as CT-scan, SEM, TEM etc
